Take time to get caught up with all of the amazing things going on around Crow Mountain Baptist Church.
As I sit here writing this article, the first day of fall has arrived. The speed with which this year has and is passing still amazes me. The next three months are busy ones for our church. The calendars are full of activities and fellowship and they tend to distract us from our real purpose as a church.
There is nothing wrong with activities as long as we don’t forget what our main focus is; it should be “who do we know that needs Jesus”? In October we will be starting our “Who’s Your One” campaign again. Materials for this will be on the Visitor Center. We want to set the Sunday before Easter and Easter Sunday as our high attendance Sundays which should give us plenty of time to reach our “One”.
October 31 will be our “Trunk or Treat” outreach event. We will be collecting candy starting the 1st Sunday in October. We are planning several games and activities again this year and will need volunteers to man those positions. If the weather permits, we plan to hold this outside.
Thanksgiving dinner will be the Sunday evening before Thanksgiving. Plan to bring the one you are cultivating as a friend and let us know any additional guest you might have coming so we can make sure there is enough food.
Watch the calendars for all the December class parties. I won’t list them here but there are several planned.
God Bless You All,
This year will be over before we know it. October brings us to our preparation for Trunk or Treat. All youth willing to participate, please let Jonathan Willard know. Trunk or Treat will be on Oct. 31 at the Fellowship Hall. There will be games and lots of candy. Please don’t forget to begin bringing in candy for the event.
November will hopefully have cooler temperatures and colder nights. The weather will not affect our efforts as we begin to have preparations for Thanksgiving and our Christmas parties. Keep your eyes open for opportunities to be a part of the upcoming festivities.
This year has been a whirlwind of time. I am amazed that the end of the year is near. The Wednesday Night Bible Studies will be focused on our lives in Jesus. We will have special nights of testimony service throughout the coming months. Please plan to come and hear how Jesus has been working in our lives. Youth are encouraged to share their testimonies at this time as well.
The biggest change of the year for us as Youth, will be the emphasis of Sunday School. Our special days of activities and fellowships will be planned and announced through Sunday School. Sunday School starts at 9:00 am with breakfast and then 9:45 am class. Morning worship follows at 10:45 am. Plan to attend if you want to participate.
Thank you to everyone who gave and prayed for missionaries during the Dixie Jackson Arkansas Missions Month throughout September. If you haven’t had a chance to give, go ahead and do so the first of October. Just mark your check or offering for DJ Offering and put it in the offering plate.
Both International Friendship Outreach meals we helped with in August and September was a success. Especially in September, our little church helped feed 125 International Students. What an Awesome God we serve! iforussellville.org
October 6, Grab a muffin and Build a Shoebox in the fellowship hall before Sunday school and before Evening Service. We plan to build at least 50 shoeboxes and deliver them to a local drop station early November. www.samaritanspurse.org/operationchristmas
October 13 is Global Hunger Relief Day. Please prayerfully consider making a meal for someone in need, donating to the Main Street Mission, or giving to our very own Food Pantry.gobgr.org/projects/globalhungerrelief/
WMU Meets October 1 and November 5 @ 12:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. IF you know someone that would be interested in joining us, give them a call or let Mona know about them so she can contact them. October 1 we will be putting together gift baskets for our much appreciated school employees. December 5 @ 12:00 p.m. WMU will be at Mona Moody’s house for a Christmas lunch.
December is Lottie Moon International Missions Offering Month. We will be collecting offerings throughout December for our International Missions so be prayerfully considering and saving what you can for this offering. All proceeds go to support international missions. In the past we have collected diabetic socks for the nursing home. If you would like to continue to do so, bring new socks in December and WMU will deliver them. Keep your eyes on the bulletin; there will be other activities planned and ways to serve throughout the next few months.
“Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your Heavenly
Father.” Matthew 5:16
Thank you for shining God’s light to others.
The ARVBA WMU meets on the third Thursday of each month at the Arkansas River Valley Baptist Association office at 12:30 p.m.
