Take time to get caught up with all of the amazing things going on around Crow Mountain Baptist Church.
WHAT A YEAR this has been!!! With Covid-19 and the political climate the way it is, no one knows what to expect next. Well I have decided to let God take care of the larger matters that I can’t change and pay attention to those which I can have influence on by preaching the Gospel. With that said, I want you to know that we will continue to have Church on Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night as long as we can unless otherwise prevented.
October is a full ministry month with VBS being held on Wednesday nights in the fellowship building during the month. We also will be celebrating with the Abundance Quartet on Sunday morning October 4 with a fellowship meal to follow and NO evening services that day.
We are still planning to do the traditional Thanksgiving dinner on November 22nd in the evening at 5:00 pm in the fellowship hall. All class Christmas parties are still planned with one exception; they will all be using the fellowship hall rather than eating out this year. Check with you teachers for the time and particulars of your class event.
In December we still plan to celebrate Christmas with some special events and will have the Candlelight service on December 23rd just before Christmas Eve. I plan to be on vacation from December 24 thru New Year’s Day with a possible trip planned to see my Mother and family in Hannibal MO.
Let’s just continue to pray that the rest of the year and the new year will be better!
God Bless You all
The end of a crazy year is nearly at hand. This year has seen many unprecedented events. It has definitely been a year to practice our patience and long suffering.
The Covid-19 pandemic has taught me a valuable lesson in being prepared for anything the day may bring. It has forced the general population to practice better handwashing and germ transference awareness. Due to my medical condition, this has been a definite positive for my general wellbeing. Everyone washing their hands and wearing masks, using hand sanitizer, and practicing social distancing goes a long way in protecting me from unnecessary infections.
In that light, the way that ministry is conducted through the church is changing and evolving. Our Youth group has an advantage in these uncertain times and that is our trust and faith in Jesus. We have already learned from our Mission Lab experience that the scope of our ministry can change with our daily circumstance. Our youth know the phrase, “Adapt and Overcome.” This is the attitude we must continually have as our situation can and will change daily. Our effectiveness as witnesses for Christ does not diminish but must change to fit our socially distant life now.
The holidays are upon us and our usual celebrations will be different this year. Vacation Bible School will be on Wednesday night from September 30 – Oct. 28 this year. All youth be prepared to have a bible study class as well during those nights.
The remaining holidays will be a flurry of activities and the end of 2020 will be on the doorstep in a few weeks’ time. Be praying extra hard as the days are treacherous and full of trouble ahead. But take heart and strength that our God remains firmly in control and that we are already more than conquerors through Him.
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgment. 2 Tim 1:7 (HCSB)
37 No, in all these things we are more than victorious through Him who loved us.
Romans 8:37 (HCSB)
October is Mission Emphasis Month. We will be doing a few small things to bring your attention to all of our missions we support. One will be a mission board of past, present, and future missions that you have been involved in. Give Mona Moody a few pictures to go on the board and she will make sure you get them back after the display. Maybe we can even get a video together. This month will be a time to give monetarily to our missions. Our goal is 2,500.00 dollars.
Operation Christmas Child collection week is November 16 -25. We are doing something different. Families can fill a box or more for a child or children. You pick out what goodies you want in the box based on age and gender of child you choose to buy for. There is a list online you can look at and we will have lists at the church on the mission bulletin board. The first Sunday of November, we will have a table with the boxes to fill and lists, labels, etc. We will collect the boxes back at the church the weekend of the 16th. More information will be available soon.
WMU will be collecting socks again this year for a nursing home. Some personal notes would be nice as well to send them. So when you buy your socks to give, just write a couple of personal notes. Those residents would love them.
The ARVBA WMU meets on the third Thursday of each month at the Arkansas River Valley Baptist Association office at 12:30 p.m.
